There’s something magical about working with your hands. For me, that magic is clay.
I stumbled into pottery during a particularly stressful season of life. Between deadlines, screens, and endless to-do lists, I craved something grounding. A friend dragged me to a local pottery class one weekend, and from the moment I sat down at the wheel, I was hooked.
Pottery isn’t just about making beautiful bowls or vases—it’s about the process. The slow centering of clay. The quiet rhythm of the wheel. The humbling reminder that things collapse, crack, and sometimes explode in the kiln (and that’s okay).
In the studio, time stretches. It’s just me, the clay, and the present moment. My phone stays in my bag. My thoughts slow down. I breathe deeper.
Since that first class, pottery has become more than a hobby—it’s therapy, meditation, and play, all rolled into one. I’ve learned to appreciate imperfection, to celebrate “happy accidents,” and to embrace the unpredictability of glaze and fire.
If you’re thinking about trying pottery, do it. Don’t wait to be “artistic enough” or “ready.” Just show up, get your hands dirty, and see what takes shape.
I’ll be sharing more about tools, techniques, studio stories, and the pieces that inspire me. Whether you’re a fellow potter, an art lover, or just clay-curious, welcome to my little corner of the (muddy) world.
Let’s get messy.
